May 6-8 State Cup

Spring soccer practices begin today. We will post schedule here as soon as it is ready.

Liz has two good friends coming to the team from school. There are 5 new players who all seem to be strong competitors. We look forward to a great season.

So. Here we are in Pensacola.

First game was a great 2-2 tie!! Vs Navarre.

Second game was a 2-0 loss, .

Sunday morning we had to have a PK shootout vs. Navarre to see which team in our bracket would be in the semi-finals.  Lizzie was selected to take the second PK for our team and scored with a beautiful PK shot!  After each team had taken 5 shots we were tied at 4-4.  We then went to a situation where each team would take a shot, and if one team missed and the other team made the shot, the shootout would end.  Talk about sudden death!  It was very tense, as our goalie stopped the sixth shot, but then we missed our sixth.  Seventh shot, they made, and then we made our seventh.  Eight shot by Navarre hit the crossbar and failed to score, then our team finally made the shot to end the shootout!  We were going through to the semi-final!

Semi Final started with an  early goal against us.  Then we evened the score, and scored again before halftime.  In the second half we allowed two goals to end in a heartbreaking 3-2 loss.  The team really played well and gave all they had.  We all felt good about how the girls played, and especially Liz for her effort and great attitude!

Back in B’ham now, and all are worn out.

Here is the Fall 2010 Soccer Schedule.

Today’s Game was a close loss  1-2.  We are scoring goals and playing tough defense.  Lizzie had several great saves as middle defender.  Way to go!

* Turn R again at first intersection
* Turn R again at the next intersection (going back under I-459)
* You are on Overton Rd
* Take Overton Rd to Crosshaven Dr.
* Turn L on Crosshaven Dr.
* Take the first L on Greendale Rd and follow to stop sign
* Turn R onto White Oak Dr. then take an immediate L onto East Street
* Follow East Street as it curves R and down into the Mountain Brook Public Works facility.

Lizzie at the Montgomery match.  She played well, with a hurt ankle.  Unfortunately Homewood Lady Freedom lost 2-1, and Saturday lost 8-1 to Auburn.

This weekend we have the Hoover Havoc tournament in Riverchase.  First game is Friday night at 6PM.  Saturday we play at 11:45AM.

Way to go! Lizzie was coughing a lot this morning, but fought through the illness to play a great game. She helped her team beat their toughest competition so far 3-1. Go Lady Freedom!
