We now play at 1:20 PM & 6:40 PM on Saturday, and the results of those games determine when we play on Sunday – either 10:40 AM (3rd place), noon (2nd place) or 1:20 PM (1st place)

Directions to Field: The Met Fields(MET)

The Met fields are located near Regions Park where the Birmingham Barons play their baseball games. If traveling in on I-65 take I-459 South towards Tuscaloosa. Once on I-459, take the Highway 150 exit (Exit 10) and make a left at the light at the end of the ramp. From here you will travel a short distance where you will make a right at the 2nd traffic light. Continue down this road until you go through 1 traffic light. The fields will be on your immediate left.

The second half put us into the wind and we allowed Huntsville to tie things. Then we scored a goal and returned fire to make it 3-3. Then a late handball gave us a free kick that we shot over the goalie for a 4-3 victory!

Liz played very well and we are very proud of her and her team!

The first game took place in the midst of a pretty heavy snowstorm.  It was cold all day, but we endured the elements to see some good soccer.

Lizzie showed some very strong competitive fire, especially in game three where she was pushed down by an opponent.  After that foul was not called, a furious Liz seemed to double her efforts.

We are all excited about this season after this chilly warmup.

Liz has two good friends coming to the team from school. There are 5 new players who all seem to be strong competitors. We look forward to a great season.

First game was a great 2-2 tie!! Vs Navarre.

Second game was a 2-0 loss, .

Sunday morning we had to have a PK shootout vs. Navarre to see which team in our bracket would be in the semi-finals.  Lizzie was selected to take the second PK for our team and scored with a beautiful PK shot!  After each team had taken 5 shots we were tied at 4-4.  We then went to a situation where each team would take a shot, and if one team missed and the other team made the shot, the shootout would end.  Talk about sudden death!  It was very tense, as our goalie stopped the sixth shot, but then we missed our sixth.  Seventh shot, they made, and then we made our seventh.  Eight shot by Navarre hit the crossbar and failed to score, then our team finally made the shot to end the shootout!  We were going through to the semi-final!

Semi Final started with an  early goal against us.  Then we evened the score, and scored again before halftime.  In the second half we allowed two goals to end in a heartbreaking 3-2 loss.  The team really played well and gave all they had.  We all felt good about how the girls played, and especially Liz for her effort and great attitude!

Back in B’ham now, and all are worn out.

Today’s Game was a close loss  1-2.  We are scoring goals and playing tough defense.  Lizzie had several great saves as middle defender.  Way to go!
